our flock

True to form, our sheep are a bit of a motley crew.

We started our flock with three original members: Ayrshire, Allie and Bella. Ayrie is a Shetland / Romanov cross, Allie is a Shetland cross, and Bella is a Mini Cheviot.

We currently have seven sheep: Ayrie, her sons Bobby and Charlie - Allie, and her daughter Lily - Bella, and her daughter Rosalie.

Our sheep are deeply loved and cared for and live out their lives on our pasture, where they lounge under the many trees,  drink from the natural spring, eat fresh grass half of the year and hay harvested from our property the other half. They are shorn every Spring, and they are always SO HAPPY to rid themselves of their Winter coats and feel the sunshine. We offer both raw and processed wool from their shorn fleeces.

willow

Our property has a natural spring, which floods into the hayfield regularly. In an attempt to utilize as much of the land as possible, we searched for something that would actually enjoy growing in that section of the field, and we discovered willow.

Willow is an incredible material. It grows extremely quickly and can be cut over and over, but grow back with vigor every time. Willow is exceptionally flexible and can be used fresh to weave many things, including fencing. After being dried, willow may be soaked to regain its elasticity. Willow bark contains compounds similar to aspirin and willow soaked in water releases a powerful rooting hormone which can be used to encourage root growth in other plants.

We currently grow Curly Willow, harvest and dry it in Late Winter. Dried willow may be used decoratively, or rehydrated and used to weave wreaths, baskets, and more.
